aaaaaaah...
so so nice. I spent the evening with my friend Val. We went to the Hothouse, an all womans spa on capitol hill. Talking, relaxing in the hottub, talking, sauna, talking, steam sauna, talking, foot massages... More talking... Dinner at a thai restaurant and to cap it off, yes, more talking... We hadn't seen each other in ages. It was the best thing ever to catch up on our lives, share our woes, joys, desires. I didn't even mind too much when I discovered my favorite handknitted, sparkly purple wool hat went missing sometime during the evening. I hope whoever chances upon it loves it as much as I did. Maybe I'll get a new one from Mac at thegofish. Girltime, there's really nothing like it.

Handmade stuff like that rocks - I remember when someone made me a scarf and I thought it was the coolest thing ever and wore it every winter for years...
I'm sorry you lost your hat, but yeah, maybe it'll bring some sparkly joy to somebody else :)

Yeah. It was pretty special. It was made by some very sweet women I met at a craftfair where I was selling my sculptures. They fell in love with my art and kept coming back to my booth to see if I'd trade with them. I love trading! I've gotten some of my most cherished pieces of jewelry, clothes and a heck of a lot of christmas presents that way. Anyhoo, I went by their booth and instantly fell in love with that hat. It has kept my head warm and happy for several winters now. Daniel even wore it for a brief spell, until I happened to mention how incongruous it looked, that pretty purple sparkly wool with his shaggy bearded face.
I wonder if it will continue to weave a little story as it passes from owner to owner.
Sigh... At least I still have the lovely seablue shawl they traded me.

So sad! I dug that hat. I'd put it on sometimes if I was feeling the need to be sparkly. Feeling the need to be sparkly is not a retrosexual quality is it? What if you feel the need to be sparkly WHILE you're TAKING CARE OF SHIT.?
